| Biography |
| This colombian doom metal act it is one of the most well known metal acts in Colombia. the band started in 1990. Their first demo Visiones del horror (1992) had a sound near to death metal. It is in 1994 when the sound of the band changes with the addition of violins, female vocals and keyboards, the fusion between classical music and metal also started. Then came the first album, entitled El vuelo de las almas, becoming as one of the main influence of colombian goth metal acts. To this was followed in 1995 for the second album Blood and Tears where in their sound you can find some black metal influences. In 1996 appeared Sol Negro, the third album that included the first demo, the first album and some rare live tracks.
In 1997 Divine War was released. An this was the point in wich the band changes to a more melodic and elaborated work. The violins took the main character into the band and the band found their own sound. To commemorate the ten years of the band, Tenebrarum released a new album called X, the fourth one, with a more estructured and elaborated work.
In 2001 appeared Voices, a conceptual album, with a history that goes around ten chapters. A string quartet was used to add a new dimension to the music. This album was mastered at the New York's Sterling Sound by George Marino (Metallica, Aerosmith, Type O Negative). En 2002 TENEBRARUM released Divine War 2002, a digicd with new versions of some old songs, with 14 tracks, 14 more tracks in mp3 format and a video. In 2005 the band decided to expand their borders to the european market. The label chossen for this enterprise has been Mondongo Canibale Records. The album will be released during the year 2006. tenebrarum has playesd in most important colombian fests with more famous rock/metal bands for that country (Masacre, Kraken...), being the band nominated through some years to the Shock awards (the biggest in colombia) as best metal band. |
