| Biography |
| It was the year 1999 when As Light Dies borns as a project. A few friends try to build a band where they would mix all their musical tastes. Music styles as death metal, black, doom, new age, gothic rock and progressive metal, avant-garde, celt music and even 80's pop. They gidelines aim to create an misterious, sad and macabre style. But at the sime time trying to approach to the majority of the people. In conclusion: they will trying to create a new style. The first it was to find the suiteable people, open minded. It was really difficult, but halfway through year 2003, the line up it wasn't complete. This line up was formed by: guitar, violin, bass, drums, keyboards and voice. With all the band completed, As Light Dies enters in September of that year in R&C studies of Madrid where they record two songs, The Sinking of Atlantis y The Wind is calling me (both are available in download section). The reviews of the recordings are pretty much better than hoped by the members of the band, and their two first shows where full of an unusual enthusiasm for a new band, the theaters where full and the people where enjoying. The subject of the songs is very wide. The fantastic ans misterious element is always present. Most of the lyrics are inspired in many writters. In 2004 As Light Dies introduce many changes in their line-up, more new influences, integreting latin rithms because the percussion arragements, and at the same time going deeply in their most darker, and metaler vein. This year brings some new performances, that will take the band out of Madrid, and participate in some metal festivals. In May, they record their second demo named The Painter's Curse(also avalaible in the download section), and then one month after they enter in Geek Record studies to finnish their third recording, this time relaying with better professional resources, and better production. The name of this third demo is 3 Views of an End: A Trip to Nowhere including 6 tracks. This recording have very good reviews in the fanzines, and also the fans are satisfied. In the middle of 2004, As Light Dies has new changes in his line-up, and in the beggings of 2005 enters a cello player in the band for the recording of their first album A Step Through the Reflection. 13 tracks y 70 minutes of music. A great production travelling lots of music styles. In 2006 is recordered a new conceptual mini cd named GEA. Once edited A Step Through the Reflection after summer of 2006. The mini cd will be moves. The intention is to record a new album at the end of the year. |
